about

If I Had a Kid emerged early during this growthperiod as a playful thought experiment which, in an ironic twist of fate, would become a foretelling as
Pronto recently became a proud father.

It was this personal milestone that reignited the group to release their opening single, marking a new chapter & setti ng the tone for their upcoming album - Boom Cycle.

In traditional Stoops fashion, the topical lyrics are delivered with a guilty conscience. It’s an acknowledgment of their own mistakes disguised in the form of rhyme-entrenched parental guidance.

Notably, Kruger James accompanies the group alongside Sarah Pellicano who co-assist in solid melodic hook-work that eff ortlessly enhances
the story of what was, is and will be The Stoops.

lyrics

If i had a kid i would tell him this
Don't be such a pessimist
Don't be like the rest of us
Think with your third eye
Feel with your intelligence
Never let at termite hill become an Everest
Remember this
Be a thought provoker stick-poker
Every page turned
Every word flipped over
Every stone kicked
Every gnome tipped over
Take a mind trip but only don't trip over, yeah
Get your flippers out
Deeper than a river mouth
If it brings the hippy out
You need to bounce and live in Laos
See, the word is full of choices its your oyster farm
You only hold yourself back
Double jointed arms
It's all cause and effect
It's your life
Down goes the moon
Then up rise the tides
Down goes the food
Then up rise the price
Down goes the ice
Then surprise, surprise

I'm no shining star
I wonder would I guide you well
So one day you could find yourself
Do you think you would make the mistakes that I did as a kid
If you knew all the things that I know now
And I'd give you all I have
But I don't really have that much to show now
No, I don't really have that much to show now

If I had a kid I would tell him mate
Two things that never break; promises and Sellotape
If life gives you lemons, make money from the lemonade
If life gives you lemonade, add gin and celebrate, but anyway
Never charge your credit cards with super
Respect your better half, read the Kama Sutra
Any harsh manoeuvre, and karma shoots ya
And karma is a world class target shooter
Be the star of your team, the winner that seems fitter
Make em laugh at your dream
If they didn't, then dream bigger
A souvenir of a wife with a lean figure
Ain't the best scuba gear when your life is a deep river
And you can kneel in a steeple and accept
A sequel after death, where evil is rejected
But we live on in people we connect with
Connecting with you?
That's equally effective

I'm no shining star
I wonder would I guide you well
So one day you could find yourself
Do you think you would make the mistakes that I did as a kid
If you knew all the things that I know now
And I'd give you all I have
But I don't really have that much to show now
No, I don't really have that much to show now
No, I don't really have that much to show now
No, I don't really have that much to show now
